Wanted: Team Members

The Critical Quilt Fair Committees are seeking team members. The tasks are not difficult, but having enough help keeps them stress-free and fun.

  1. Check Entries into the show (take-in). On Wednesday, October 15th, between 9:00 am and 11:00 am, we accept entries, tag them, and give the owners of the items receipts stapled to a slip of return instructions.
Need desk workers and “runners.” Training will be provided. Sign up sheet at the front table.
  2. Return entries at the conclusion of the show (take-down). On Sunday, October 19th, at 4:00 pm.
At 4:00pm on Sunday, the quilts are returned. The pins keeping the drapes in place are removed, then the quilts are removed from the frames and given to “catchers”, who take the quilts and fold them to hang back on the frame, with the ID tag showing.

Detailed instructions will be provided to volunteers (the signees) by the chair before the start of the job. Training practice can be arranged with the chair at any time before or after meetings. These jobs are not complicated – they just have a lot of steps.

Please don’t hesitate to talk with Jodi Greenfield (925) 980-5409 about joining one or both teams!

Reminders…

Tomorrow (October 18), is the day to turn in all Quilt Faire entries.

We ask that you bring your entries to the Mark Twain building between 9:00a.m. and Noon.

For quilt and wall hanging entries, please hand us the entry folded so that the sleeve AND your label can be seen. See the example in the video.

It’s a silly homemade video, but it’s short and to the point.
Includes a cameo of Jodi’s dog.

A Peek (behind the scenes)

As promised…

All these pictures were taken on Monday the 17th.

The first batch, taken between 9 and 10 am, show the “naked” Boutique and the Exhibit rooms. Then the work in progress, along with worker bees. Finally, the Boutique is ready to unpack, and the showroom has frames and drapes ready and waiting for Wednesday when the quilts are hung.

I just noticed the gallery arrangement switches the images around, so they are not staying in order. I’m sure you can figure it out. We all worked hard, and Tuesday is declared a “day of rest.”
