Why Men Enjoy Quilt Faire

Men often accompany their wives/girlfriends/moms to our Quilt Faire because they want to keep their (see above) happy. They don’t understand what is so exciting about cutting up fabric and then sewing it back together with other fabric. And the shopping for fabrics and notions? Forget about it.

The truth is that men are fascinated by the Math and Engineering involved in quilt patterns. They LOVE “picking apart” a complicated design to determine how it was done. It’s the studying of them more than the admiring of the quilts that men like. We ladies do enough admiring for everyone. We also do shopping while the men study the exhibits.

Comments made by men overheard during Quilt Faire:
* I had no idea
* Wow!
* It really is an art form
* This is so cool
* I want one like that
* Way too much work
* My wife made that?

So, don’t be reluctant to invite your man to the Quilt Faire. He will probably have more fun than he will admit!

Just One More Thing…

The Membership Team is working on the 2023 Fall Edition of our member roster. This will be 2023’s final update and will be available at the August 21st meeting.

There is one more thing we ask of you before the summer break -Look yourself up in the Spring Member Directory. This roster should have a date of March 17 (or later), which will be attached to a future email.

Did you look thoroughly? Is all the information correct? Check for typos, transposed numbers, and things completely wrong. I know it’s a rarity, but I have made mistakes a few times. (Especially since the lobotomy)

Please get corrections to the following:
Jodi Greenfield (209-795-7425) or Karen Wallace (970-846-3402) ASAP.

Have a fabulous summer break, and don’t forget Tuesday & Thursday’s Flea Market fun. See ya there!

All Quiet in the Hall

With a bunch of the guild at Quilt Camp and not at Monday’s meeting, the Hall was so quiet. Without many conversations going on at once, it was a peaceful feeling. One meeting per year is like that.

We are looking forward to the following Monday and hearing from all the campers relating their stories and exhibiting their accomplishments. I had hoped for communications from Lake Tahoe this past week, but nothing came.

Yesterday I was emailed one photo, which gave me a clue why the camp was incommunicado.

Every woman in this photo is not only smiling but has a huge smile on their face. Every single one of them.

Now I’ve taken a ton of group photos for the projects I worked with in National Security over the years. A few smiled big, but most were not even paying attention. This photo would have gotten all of us called into HR for drug testing.

Congratulations, Dana & Linda, for another successful camping trip!
