Random Thoughts

September is National Sewing Month

So, it is a happy coincidence that on September 13th the IHQ quilters are having a Comfort Quilt Cut Day.

What does that mean?

So glad you asked! It is a day of choosing fabrics and patterns to make comfort quilt ‘kits.’ Fabrics are cut according to the pattern instructions and all there is to do is sew and sew some more!

Our Comfort Quilt Chair, Mary Sue, is bringing (from storage) to the Hall, donated and purchased fabrics designated to be comfort quilts. The fabrics are sorted by colors and those of us ‘addicted’ to fabric are happy to mix and match, then cut it up! Comfort Quilts, as we call them, are made all year long and are given to those in need of comforting.

Most of the Comfort Quilts are distributed by county agencies such as, child and adult protective services, hospice, sheriff’s deputies and other first responders.

My favorite fabrics are in the little kids section
Looking forward to seeing this at the Hall on Sept 13th

Cutting takes a lot of elbow room
Sometimes we bring the kits to Quilt Camp
