I am a retired RN who specialized in open-heart surgery recovery patients. Being the oldest of 11 children, I was homeschooled by my dad until 5th grade so I could stay home to help my mother. I am the only college graduate in my family.
My love of all things crafting began when I taught myself to knit and sew when I was 8. I made my first set of knitting needles out of sticks and bought a thrift store sweater to unravel for my yarn. Being frugal was necessary so by the time I was 10, with a borrowed sewing machine, I began making all of my own clothes. Married in 1971, I began using my crafting skills as a small home business where I would sell my creations from my garage boutique.
Amazingly, I never quilted but promised myself that I would learn when I retired. Better late than never, I retired in 2015 and started to learn to quilt in 2022 when I joined the IHQ guild. Now I am fascinated with all things quilting. The IHQ guild is so blessed to have so many talented quilters so willing to teach us new and old quilters the incredible art of quilting. I am loving getting to know such incredible women and honored to serve as your Co-Treasurer.
